Hi ,
We are hiring for L1 PostgreSQL DBA
- Provide L1 production
support for PostgreSQL database environments, including monitoring,
troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
- Perform routine DBA
tasks: backups, restores, patching, upgrades, replication management, and
capacity planning.
- Monitor database health
and performance using Grafana dashboards; configure and fine-tune
alerts to proactively catch issues before they impact production.
- Investigate and resolve
performance issues such as slow queries, locking, deadlocks, index tuning,
and query optimization.
- Manage user access,
roles, and permissions in line with security best practices.
- Support high
availability and disaster recovery setups, including streaming
replication, failover, and backup/restore strategy.
- Participate in on-call
rotation for production incident support.
- Document runbooks,
standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Work with development
teams on schema changes, migrations, and query reviews.
- Assist in scaling
initiatives, including support for Citus (distributed PostgreSQL)
environments where applicable.
Required
Skills & Experience
- 3–6 years of hands-on experience
as a PostgreSQL DBA in a production support environment.
- Strong understanding of
PostgreSQL architecture, replication, indexing, and query performance
tuning.
- Experience with backup
and recovery tools:
- pg_dump
- pg_basebackup
- WAL-based
backups
- pgBackRest/Barman
- Hands-on experience with
Grafana and typically Prometheus or similar for database monitoring
and alerting.
- Solid understanding of Linux
systems administration as it relates to database operations.
- Experience
troubleshooting production incidents under time pressure.
- Good understanding of SQL
and the ability to review/optimize queries.
Good
to Have
- Experience with Citus
for sharding and horizontal scaling.
- Working knowledge of Python
for automation scripts, monitoring tools, or maintenance utilities.
- Exposure to
cloud-managed PostgreSQL services:
- AWS
RDS/Aurora
- Azure
Database for PostgreSQL
- GCP
Cloud SQL
- Familiarity with Terraform
and Ansible.
- Experience with PgBouncer/Pgpool-II.
- ITIL or incident
management process familiarity
